Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve contains some of the oldest trees in Europe, veteran oaks five centuries old and the world-famous, still producing acorns after standing at the heart of the forest for an estimated 800 years!
The 450 acre country park is part of the Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve, designated in 2002 by Natural England, the Government agency responsible for safeguarding our natural environment.

Copper Beeches Shooting Ground has been in existence for more than 20 years. Situated in the heart of the Dukeries, roughly equidistant between Chesterfield, Mansfield and Worksop.
We welcome both new and experienced shooters, every Sunday we offer a 50 bird sporting shoot, over 6 or 7 stands.
We also offer shooters the opportunity of a 25 bird ball trap.

Creswell Crags is a limestone gorge honeycombed with caves and smaller fissures. Stone tools and remains of animals found in the caves by archaeologists provide evidence for a fascinating story of life during the last Ice Age between 50,000 and 10,000 years ago. |

The Harley Foundation is based at the ducal estate of Welbeck. Ivy, Duchess of Portland, set up the Foundation as a Charitable Trust in 1977, "to encourage creativity in all of us" and to ensure the continuation of specialist hand-skills in an age of mass production. She envisaged the Foundation helping artists to work by offering them affordable studio space in tranquil surroundings.

Based in the heart of Sherwood Forest on the Welbeck Estate in North Nottinghamshire, the school is housed in the former fire stables, dating back to 1870. Newly refurbished training rooms are specially equipped for the teaching of breadmaking, cheesemaking, brewing, butchery, charcuterie and preserving. The environment is serene and inspiring, but very accessible.

Southwell ploughing match is the largest agricultural one day show in Nottinghamshire, established in 1855 and run by a committee comprising of local business people and rural enthusiasts. The annual show is held at a different venue every year with 2011 being held at Leyfields farm, celebrating the Mawer family's centenary of farming in Kneesall. To recognize this, the floral art theme for 2011 is 'celebrating one century in farming' in the horticultural and domestic marquee.
